The General Chat Thread (2026)

I was told not to tip the owner, but when I did go to a salon the prices were reasonable affordable I tipped her $5. But I haven’t been back after she gave me an infection that required antibiotics. So I just do my own.

Barriehie I use to!!
My Mother sat on top of me one day when I was, oh, maybe 12 years old and tweezed my brows... I screamed so loud all of the neighborhood kids came to the back door to see what was the haps...
Then the days of Mary Quant came along and I followed those trends HARD!
I was quite the fashionista back in the day ...

Petty Vent:
I had tried to make an appointment to have my eyebrows waxed MONTHS ago, they're so wild. She was really booked out.
My eye sight isn't great for up close, so I've been having this nice young gal do it for me for about 9 years now.
When I first starting going to her when she worked in a Salon, it cost me $12 USD.
I have an appointment with her at her own salon a few towns away from us and she uses Square Go.
I just got a text asking me to confirm my appointment and I looked at the details... $30 USD!!!
GEEZ!
As the salon owner, do I need to tip her any longer? I've always given her a $5 cash tip,
and I ALWAYS bring some sort of baked goodie for her and her husband.
Sounds expensive to me. But I have never had eyebrow treatment. Nor do I go to hairdressers. Maybe you should shop around.

Yes, shop around. I know where there are schools you can sometimes get a serious discount. If Cowboyville has cosmetologists then they're getting trained somewhere.

I asked AI what the average cost is to have your eyebrows waxed today and it came up with a National Average of $15-$30 in a general salon... so I shouldn't grouse, eh?
I asked my daughter how much she thinks it would cost at her place, she said about $40. She doesn’t wax either. I think her hair cost is about $90.

I go to top of the line training school, in fact one of my daughters suggested the idea because she got the hair cut at the same place in college.
For seniors, $22 for hair cut and dye. I usually give them $20 on top and smile all day about it. Luckily I don’t cry if there’s a bad hair cut, I really go for the top quality hair dye product. Anything wrong with my haircut my husband can fix it.
