I do give them good tips in USA, except when I read online a mom of a waitress said they would spit on your food if they don’t get good tips, I say enough of this BS. Where is the gratitude?
When I was in Greece, the waiter shook my hands on the last day we ate there, we ate 3 days in a row, they were so thankful for the tips we gave them. Only 10% tip in Greece.
 
Well, so far as I am concerned - I wont enable a business who profits by refusing to pay their staff a proper wage and as for waitress'/waiters, barmaids/men if they don't like not getting tips they have the option of doing a different job or going somewhere that does pay proper wages. OR asking themselves why they didn't get a tip. After all - they know what they are letting themselves into when they take the jobs.

I tip the staff at my local well - a standard $20, and I do it because I get very good service and have known all of them for many many years. I also do it because they DON'T expect it and are grateful for the tips.
 
I think the business programs the software, like take out counter, donut shop, in the past they have no tips, now there’s a tip screen when you pay.
I often ask for my seniors discount, sometimes for the fun of it, sometimes they give me some, some time they like my jokes and I get it free. The way I see it, I’m old and I earn it by surviving over 65 years with all this BS, give me a discount.
Also my last word on this.
 
Still not feeling good. Called the doctor, and they told me to come right in. Said my vitals were very good (BP 118/72, pulse 96). He gave me antibiotic pills and an ointment for around my nose. Hopefully this will knock it out.

Must have missed that. Do you have an infection?

I think it’s the bad flu this year. My husband was cold and had a chill, my sister was too and ended up at a hospital. They both had flu and covid shots.

Why is it that during the workweek, I have to drag my ass out of bed, but every Saturday morning when I want to sleep in, I'm wide eyed awake between 4 and 6am? It's now still before 5, and I've already made breakfast, have a nice fire going, and am about start cleaning the cosmoline out of my new Mosin Nagant.

It's still raining.

This is the first real rain we have had since November. We've only had 20mm so far, but it has been slow and steady so the ground can absorb it. We need much much more though.

If the weather forecast is correct, it should continue for today and tomorrow which will be a very welcome relief. Most dams here are dry.
