I don't often post about my health - but right now its in the forefront of my mind. By that, I mean itching. I think I probably have shingles. Its all over the place and itching madly. Off to the docs tomorrow! That is, if I can get an emergency appointment.
Ouch. That sounds horrid. We visited our nephews and nieces Friday night and they all have chickenpox.

I have a topical cream - but it doesn't really work that well.

Shingles is the same virus as chickenpox. Apparently it lays dormant and pops up again in a different form when you are really old!

18 year old niece has already had shingles when she was 16! - it's the younger five with chickenpox now. (She had chickenpox at 2 years old).

Yes - my extensive and somewhat hypochondriacal research into this itchy subject reveals that there are younger victims of shingles.

But don't kids get vaccinated against chicken pox these days?

I hope not!

My wife is a noted cheapie. She also has an autoimmune disorder that ups her chances of getting shingles and means she'll have a worse time of it than most.

Even with multiple severe warnings from her specialist, she still balked at the $300US for the vaccine. I had to pay for it up front and then have her get it; otherwise, she would have taken her chances.:o_o:

My father in law who has just turned 80 (suppose birthday party being tbe whole reason we're in the UK) had just had shingles for the second time.

Turns out what I thought might be shingles is an unidentified lot of spots (which my friend with whom I was staying, last week also has). The doc says it looks like insect bites (possibly). What I don't understand is how said insect seems to have bitten me on eyelids, cheeks, shoulders, stomach, arms, legs, hands and well - everywhere. The spots are very inflamed, itchy and some are forming blisters. My friend's doc also thought insects. Its now 5 days since the spots appeared and none have gone away yet.
