Bikes, bicycles and pedestrians are fair game here...
Hmm so many things make it just the best pastime in the world. So SandwichShortOfAPicnic what is it about riding that you like, aside from the cliche "wind in the hair" thingy![]()
You are a movie, with no ads to boot!Hmm so many things make it just the best pastime in the world.
Wind in your hair died with the helmet laws but I know what you mean and yes that’s a factor.
I think it’s the peace and quiet. Just you in your own head having all your thoughts blown away.
There’s a certain type of meditative state you reach which only happens on a motorcycle. It’s some sort of combination of having to be fully switched on and hyper aware of your surroundings (so you don’t get squished) and at the same time zoned out. I dunno it’s hard to describe but that pleasant hum you have after a ride is like some sort of drug that lasts way past the point the ride stopped, often days.
I also like the feeling of freedom. Unlike a car you get on a bike and start riding and it’s not necessarily to go anywhere, the riding is the thing you got on the bike for, the destination is often irrelevant. You can just go anywhere.
Every now n then (last one was last November) I set off on my bike with a couple of rough ideas about where I’d like to go and just make it up as I go along.
Usually I’ll finish a days ride (which can be as short as a couple of hours) and get the map out n look at what direction I fancy going the next day. Generally takes about 2-3 weeks before I would like to sleep in my own bed again.
They say travelling in car is like watching a movie and riding a bike is like being IN the movie. I think thats also true.
I could go on but that’s enough for now I think!![]()
At 100 mph with a car load of hoons chasing you.lol..SandwichShortOfAPicnic
I couldn't have said it better myself - that is exactly how I feel as well and as you intimated, unless you ride, you can't understand the feeling
rascal
Completely understand![]()

Less work rightI actually prefer to watch a movie than be in a movie.

Yeah, my daughter actually made a short movie, and my husband and I were in that movie, actually nobody could drive a stick shift so we were volunteered, so we know what we’re talking about.Less work right![]()
