Actually, I've just seen @Kake Lover's recipe, and this one is very similar. It does however contain one rogue added ingredient - swede - so I shall post the recipe anyway. https://www.cookingbites.com/threads/swede-onion-and-apple-bake.12246/

Thank you to everyone who has entered our first Wild Card Challenge. @Elawin and @Kake Lover both used apples and onions. A brilliant combo and one I will use in the future! @Elawin's addition of Swede was very clever, I thought. Apple and onion shortcake from @Herbie was a delightful concoction with layers of cream, caramelised onions, caramelised apple and shortbread. And @classic33 had us all scratching our heads with a Savoury Beef Trifle! My personal favourite entry was Sweet Onion Dim Sum from @ElizabethB - it is so inventive and pretty.
