Travel Plans 2025

Norway! Pretty much the same summer weather as the UK summer so I have all the right clothing so nothing to worry about other than my passport etc. - looking forward to it :)
Enjoy! We had a Norway cruise scheduled for 2020 that Covid scuttled…yet to get that rescheduled, but it’s high on the list.

Hopefully, you can post up some nice pics!

I'm hoping to try some local cuisine whilst on the cruist as well but I suspect it being a British P&O Boat it will have egg and chips, sausage and chips and fish and chips (with chips on their own as the vegetarian option) and very little Norwegien food to try!

Norwegians love their potatoes so it is kind of Norwegian food 😜

That very thing happened to us in the ‘90’s, on a long weekend break from Huntingdon over to Germany.

Got to the hotel, which included breakfast and the evening meal, and it was all British - full English breakfast or eggs and bacon, and at night - gammon/egg/chips one night, sausage and chips the next, and the big celebration final one…fish and chips!

…and not a single British person was upset!

I've seen the buffet menu and it's basically all British food available - including a chinese takeaway style choice too!!

I hope to try some traditional foods when out and about during the days we are not at sea.

Thanks for the tip!
Pass on the Stockfish. It's an acquired taste. Air dried fish, dried on the coast during winter.

I can however recommend cloudberries, but they need to be very fresh and their flavour is subtle but I don't think they grow that far south. Geöst cheese is another acquired taste. I loved it when I could have it but my OH was just a it's OK, I'll leave it for you...

We’re firming up a trip to the Finger Lakes area of NY State for Thanksgiving - visiting with the same people we spent last Thanksgiving with, but at a different nephew’s house.

We’ll be gone for 7-8 days, but part of that will include an overnight about 90 minutes south, so MrsT can visit the gravesite of her paternal grandmother - we were overseas when she passed back in the 1990’s and couldn’t attend the funeral, so this’ll be her first chance to get a look at it.
