Unpasteurised cheese

No, don't chuck it out; it's full of penicillin. Blue cheese is very, very forgiving. Just stick it in the fridge and enjoy it.

It’s still in the fridge.
I’m undecided.
But likely to bin it.
If it was pasteurised I’d defo try it.
But unpasteurised, cut with the rind no longer in tact left next to a radiator for gawd know how long.
Well Im not so keen.

Think "penicillin":D:D

I’m afraid my knowledge of microbiology is a little bit further on than that 😝
Plus we ran a dairy farm for decades so I know what’s ok and what’s not.
I just didn’t like the answer so came on here to ask instead and I have to say everyones done a fab job saying exactly what I want to hear, I’m not disappointed 😂

Now I'm confused. Which answer?

The real answer, the one I know is true and that is it’s now too much of risk. Unpasteurised dairy is a killer. Hell dairy can be a killer.
Like ice cream thats been up n down in temp too many times, you’re heading for your sick bed, or hospital, or a coffin.
But it’s not what I wanted to hear so thankyou everyone 😊
And if I suddenly disappear you can assume it’s because my body is inside out 😂

I'm just geussing here but I suspect @SSOAP saw something about blue cheese some other place and came here to get confirmation of what she heard, saw or read OR confirmation of what she thought. Obviously, the latter was the result :)

A well I know for sure it’s not wise at all to eat it as is.
Wouldn’t sell that to anyone.
But that’s not what I want the hear so I came to a forum of foodies who I knew wouldn't be able to bear the waste and will all have most certainly pushed the usual over zealous FSA’s advice more than once.

Ah OK. You knew the safe answer but wanted people here to overturn it or at the very least commiserate. It was a mixed response. To be honest I might well eat it and I'm in the category of health that really, really shouldn't!

To be honest @SSOAP, I'd rather an agency to err on the side of safety (even if extreme sometimes) than an agency that really doesn't give a damn.

At the end of the day though - what we buy really comes down to us as individuals. Some people will "blindly" do whatever some agency or so called accredited agency tells them - others will rely on their common sense and make their own decisions, like you.
