Using coffee in food recipes

We often overlook how a familiar drink such as coffee can be used as a flavouring. I learned today about Red-eye gravy - Wikipedia which sounds delicious.

Do you have any other ideas for using coffee in recipes?

Tiramisu would be an obvious one, and coffee-rubbed steaks are pretty common.

I use coffee in cooking - usually espresso as it's stronger in coffee flavour than ordinary coffee, and most often in sweet dishes but also savoury.

I used it in the Besan Gelato recipe I posted for the chickpea recipe challenge.

I hadn't heard of red eye gravy before - will check it out as sounds interesting!

I've obviously used chocolate in chilli but not coffee. Do you use both at once?

When I got into smoking meats some years ago, a neighbor told me to get Traeger's Coffee Rub, as it was his favorite rub. Lol, to date, that is the only rub I've bought that I don't like. I ended up giving it to him. I do love my black coffee, but just prefer it in a mug instead of on my plate.

There are lots of coffee-based cocktails, of course, and it can be used as a marinade.

I spotted coffee as an ingredient in a Madras curry recipe from Misty Ricardo. Madras Curry Recipe

I tried it but with the quantity involved (1/2tsp of granulated) couldn't really tell the difference.

Yes. Just a bit. Adds a lovely layer of flavour.

It makes sense to be in a BBQ sauce. I might try that sometime.
