Vacuum Cleaners

I've got a Kirby that pulls the carpet up off the floor, where there's carpet, and has every attachment known. It was around $620 about 8 years ago but I'm sure it'll last longer than I will. Plus, it has a light in the front and it's stainless steel! 😎
Is it an upright?

Yes. I got it since it has bags and you don't have all that crappy canister stuff in your face.

Is it heavy? I do have my almost $1k Rainbow canister for the deep cleaning, but it's a pain to do the carpeted stairs with. And it's good on hardwood so must be good on tile? A little more than I want to spend I think though...

I did find one with HEPA bags that is less than $200 at Walmart. I need one sooner than later.

Not really. It has a Neutral and Drive switch so it senses the direction of travel and the wheels engage, quite effortless to move.

I got it here. Company has excellent CS. I still have bags that it came with.

If I have to go over $200 it's not a deal breaker as long as I get something that works well and will last. I just saw that some of the Miele were as expensive as $800 and I don't want to spend that. Which one do you have?

Edited to add: going in depth on the Miele I see that the HEPA ones can go up to nearly $1400.
Well I ended up going with a $200 (including tax, free shipping) Hoover HEPA filter upright vac. I just couldn't justify the $600+ for the Kirby. The cheapest one was $620 before tax and shipping.

I’m late to this thread, but in case anyone stumbles across it in the future, I’ll put in another vote for the Miele. They generally make really good stuff, my vacuum, dishwasher, and washing machine are all Mieles. They are a bit more expensive but built to last.

The cleaning service that we have also uses Miele vacuums, so that’s also a good sign.

I wonder what their cordless stick one is like? They’re generally very fussy about quality and longevity and it took them donkeys years to release one so maybe theres a stick vacuum out there thats good 🤷‍♀️

Ditto on the dishwasher and washing machine.

I think this post really belongs in kitchen items I love but as it’s a vacuum I’ll stick it here.
This is my mini kitchen hoover, I only use it on cooking and eating surfaces ie not on the floor dirt.
I use it for hoovering up flour and spilt cooking ingredients, on the table if it’s been a particularly messy meal, in the microwave and ovens and on the hob which being a gas hob with grates is a faster clean up. It’s a wet and dry but I’ve never hoovered liquids with it. Easy to empty and clean.
Sorry it’s a bit of a crap photo but it’s the wobbly nozzle that makes it useful so I thought you’d like a pic rather than a terrible explanation 😂

I used it twice yesterday once on this spilt icing sugar and again when opening my new mixer to hoover up loose bits of polystyrene packaging that always ends up everywhere.
Cheap as chips (£28 from Amazon) so useful I have one here and in Spain.
It’s one of those Chinese jobbies that goes by a variety of names but is available everywhere (well certainly the UK, Europe and America).

Hmm better put one on my Isle of Man list ❤️
