Yep, it isn't the designated temperature that causes the issues, it's the reletive humidity. The higher that is, the worse the weather feels. In Darwinwe had 9 months of the year with virtually no humidity and a pretty constant 30 C 24/7 - it was perfect. For the other 3 months we got a years worth of rain (monsoon season) and the RH was in the 90% range two or three cat 3 cyclones, the odd earth quake and salt water croc warnings - We called it suicide season and for very good reason you had three choices:

1. Stay there playing superman and go stark raving mad
2. Stay there and eithe be killed by a cyclone, blue ring octopus, box jelly fish or overy friendly crocodiles
3. Save time and tax payers money and comitt suicide OR
4. Pack up your bongos and leave

I opted to stay each year but I always had a cunning plan - the only time I went outside, I go with a mate covered in BBQ Sauce

Well, yes and no
I moved everything from the one fridge to the other bigger one yesterday.
Then this morning, I saw how much extra power it used, then I saw the westher forecast and put everything back to the smaller fridge.

Wait a minute, are we talking about crocodiles, I thought you said in another thread that they don’t really go after people. Now the truth is emerging slowly, haha.

Yep, we are talking about crocodiles BUT, there are two types in Oz - Freah Water Crocs that wont bother people unless you stand on one or annoy them. I swam in a water hole not knowing there was a Freshy laying on the bottom until I got out and he/she only then came to the surface.

The other variety, with the big we'll eat anything teeth variety is the Salt Water Crocodile (Salty). They are the ones that go window shopping anfd for strolls up the streets

So, whatever you do - DO NOT confuse the two

Where badjak lives I am pretty sure that they are the freshwater kind since she is not near saltwater, but I don't know about the not bothering people part. I am guessing she isn't gonna go for a dip in the nearby waterways to find out!

You are 100% correct!
There are plenty (too many) cases of crocodile attacks.
We got the nile crocodile
They lie in wait at washing spots, and if a kid seperates from the flock, they may go for it. They are also known to have taken people out of dug out canoes (one young man, just 2 weeks ago).
You just don't know.
I think they prefer goats, fish and smaller prey, but I will not swim in water with crocs. It may go fine 9 times out of 10, but......

Yeah, smoke from the Victoria fires is now reaching Canberra. So that's me not able to go into Canberra for aircon for relief.

It's finally down to 28°C outside. We hit 38.8°C today. Inside thankfully didn't get above 30°C. It's due hotter tomorrow. Yuck.

All the chooks survived, and the chicks despite only being 3 weeks old, don't need heat even at night. That's how hot it is. Usually they need heat until 6-8 weeks old.

I think that one is at 8,700 hectares now.

Canberra to Cooma is about a 1hr drive, for reference.

I'm half way between 2 small fires that are being contained. The big ones you can see, are not that far away in reality and the smoke from them has now reached Canberra. I suspect that will mean come Saturday, i won't be able to have the windows open at night to cool down unless the wind direction changes. That's not due until Sunday when we drop to 27°C which will feel cool by comparison.

(Quick easy conversion for people 16°C = 61F and 28C = 82F they are the only 2 where switching the numbers round switches the measurement system round as well)
