Weather and other bits

Strange how some areas attract lightning...
We got a lot as well, and sometimes I just sit outside and watch.
The thunder can be pretty sectacular as well as I am in a valley and close to a gorge. You just hear the thunder going through it!

How do you sleep when it's still 30°C outside and dark and an hour passed your bedtime?
I can't do it without air conditioning. The A/C is set at 17C, which for me is arctic blast. That guarantees that (a) the mosquitoes disappear and (b) I don't get overwhelmed by the heat. A decent fan also works perfectly.

The setting is at 25 or 26 oC, the odd time I am in a room with aircon :)
17 oC is for polar bears

I lived in Darwin for 5 years and just got used to the heat for 9 months of the year at least - the other 3 months were terrible and the only time I used the AC - I hate AC so avoid it at all costs.

Where you are though SatNavSaysStraightOn I would have thought you may have gotten a bit of a "cooler breeze" of an evening ???

My husband said we didn’t get the chill, it was 52F last night. I’m thinking of chopping a branch of King David apple because we may not have the chill ever.

Ordinarily we would, but this heatwave is different. Last night did not drop below 25°C. By dark, it was still over 30°C which is not normal.
Even the breeze we did have was hot 🔥 and coming in from a direction that meant no breeze into the main bedroom.

It's 30°C outside already today with high winds. Even BBQs at home are banned today. We're on a catastrophic fire warning level (they changed a few years back, that's the highest level).

Not great. There is a cold front (cold but comparison) due to come through after dark today which will drop the temp by 10°C which will be nice. You always know is been bad when you're happy to see 28°C forecast!

My AC would never get that low and the power would cost hundreds of dollars...

Tornado time in several hours...
