Weekly menu (2026)

Is this a good dish to add red pepper flakes,
You can add red pepper flakes if you like, because it's your dish! I think I'd just try it as is first of all. For such a simple dish it's bursting with flavour already.

Menu is changed again. Today I will make turkey soup to be eaten Monday. No kim chi ramen noodle soup.
Tuesday, I will make sardine Shakshuka and leftover lamb bits shakshuka, I think I still have some bell peppers somewhere.
Today is to debone both the turkey and the lamb for freezer. They don't taste good by itself anymore. Even though my husband had some lamb last night and he said it’s delicious.

The turkey bone is in the crockpot, now I’m working on the turkey pot pie. Turkey meat will be diced to smaller byte size. Onions will be sautéed with butter, then I make a roux, add all the carrots, peas, and that’s it.

Turkey breast can be a bit dry, so I added a bit of heavy cream to the pie mixture, i have a bit leftover from making tiramisu.
I save a little bit of heavy cream for my carbonara.
After I chop and wash the vegetables for vegetable soup, I will start prepping for lunch.

Next step is shredding parmesan cheese, then cut the bacon out to small pieces. I need to look the recipe again.

The recipe for the whole egg and not just egg yolk, i thought i just use the egg yolk, which is quicker for cooking.

We had a discussion somewhere on shredding/grating hard cheeses and I ended up getting one of these.

It’s done, tasty, my daughter said it’s creamy, she had lots of bacon, less carbs, and she added extra chopped parsleys.
I only used 3 egg yolks, I didn’t use a lot of bacon fat, so not as rich, but my heart will appreciate it. I didn’t use the rest of the heavy cream either, I threw it in the turkey pot.

Been researching a bit of what to do with the leftover lamb shoulder meat, I found lamb stew with pappardelle, I think I have some pappardelle in the pantry. I also have a bit of red wine left. I need to use all the ingredients. Plus I don’t need to stew, the meat is already soft.

I removed the turkey bones from the turkey soup, I have nothing(no salt, no pepper) yet and the broth is already flavorful and smells wonderful.
I added turnips, carrots, onions, and celery. This is it. Waiting for the vegetables to turn soft, but not mushy, this will be our lunch tomorrow.

Next step is to make the pie tops for my turkey pot pie, I’ve already scooped them to individual ramekin, but we only have 5, they filled with big chunks of turkey. My husband is going to love it.
Waiting to make the pie covers. I don’t like the crust but my husband does, so these are for him and my daughter.

Done with everything, tonight my husband will heat up the pies, 3 more are in the fridge for a few evening meals.
Afterwards, I tasted my turkey soup, apparently I did over dose a little bit on celery, I noticed a hint of bitterness, so I added 2 spoons of lemon juice, my husband squeezed them ahead for our mornings, we drink lemon water 6 days a week. Hopefully, the bitterness will be moderated.

I just deboned the lamb and got some meat out, the bone is in the freezer, the meat is going to be used in ramen noodles with kim chi for Tuesday, I’ll be using trotter broth for the base. I forgot I have to do D&D tomorrow so I won’t have time to cook.

I’m actually running out of food, so Wednesday we have to go shopping, so Shakshuka for Wednesday. I need to remind myself to make the dish for my husband not so spicy, for my daughter and I, we can add more peppers.

The holidays are over, now we’re back to eating normal.
I just looked at all the weekly ads, this probably Smart & Final.
They have eggs on sale for 99c, maybe its time for quiche, lol.
They have pork shoulder or butt on sale for 1.99c, so It’s on the to buy list. They also have colossal shrimp on sale for $7.99 a pound, this is the size we want. I might get some chicken legs too, they are on sale for 79c a pound.
This shop may not have the cheapest vegs compared to the Persian shop, so I won’t get a lot. Cucumbers are 2 for 99c, maybe I get some avocados, and bananas. We’re not going to Costco this week, so I might get some milk from here too.
Since I’m not going to be eating at home Friday, I might prep my pork and possibly cook it Thursday, my family can eat them for lunch.
Saturday is already pizza day because I have to do D&D.
Sunday will be roasted chicken with balsamic vinegar, my signature dish. Some leftovers, they can have them Monday, which is no cooking day. Lite meal on Tuesday, cooking some shrimp. I have yet to determine what recipe.
So that’s planning ahead for a whole week.
