What’s going on in your garden (2026)?

The very last of the figs. Frost got the tree last night and the leaves are now dying back for winter. This is the end of my fig harvest this season.

I also raided the veg plot. Fresh tomatoes that are ripe or nearly ripe, the last cucumbers, a few more courgettes, and some warrigal greens which went into tonight's evening meal.

There were also some raspberries :D

I've also got a cherry tree on its way. Lacking a growing passionfruit vine to buy, I bought seeds instead, there there after 2 other plants I've totally forgotten about... checks email. A jostaberry tree and a blood plum satsuma (which is a plum tree).

They'll temporarily go into large pots for a few years whilst they grow, along with the pomegranate, red gooseberry, and the lime tree which also need potting on. Then the blueberry needs moving once it's dormant, and the barberry the same. Right now it produces loads of berries but doesn't get enough sun to get them ripe, so it also needs a new home this winter.

Mrs. GH and I took a trip to the country greenhouses today to buy a bunch of flowers to plant, along with some more things to plant when we start our vegetable garden. There's 6 thyme plants, 4 chives (onions), 7 tomato plants, and about 8 pepper plants. We're supposed to get frost a couple of nights next week, so we're going to hold off on planting anything until after that. I still need to rototill up a space in the yard. The flowers will all be going in planters on the back porch and deck. This is in addition to other plants and herbs that Mrs. GH already bought.

Weather app said it was supposed to rain sometime Sunday morning so I planted on Saturday. It did rain last night so today I mulched and caged the tomatoes.

Okay, everything is in the ground. I still need to completely mulch the tomato, squash, and cucumber area. That really helps with retaining water. I don't usually have to water anything until somewhere in August. It's getting drier every year though, we'll see.

Chii plants, 9 of them, with the weed control cardboard. They are, from the top:
