Yesterday day there was 1, today there are 2..
Saffron crocus for those who don't know i have around 400 bulbs.
Then I raided the veg plot. Apparently I was late again.
The courgette marrows are fine it's just the shadow making them look odd. Plus they were accidentally watered.

It's really hard to show, but there were 13 saffron flowers today.
They have to remain fenced off else by chooks see bare soil and think dust bath!

I have just raided the veg plot again.
And the pear tree has started to consider the second graft of pears (it is dual graft) ready to be picked. Pears, like kiwi fruit, do not ripen on the tree. And those 4 pears weighed in at 1.2kg! That is 300g each!

I find it grows better in the veg plot than in the lawn. Only the chooks feed the lawn, though

It will grow, as long as it gets water
It's one of those grass species that grows with runners. It suits the climate here
We call it buffalo grass. Another popular type is kikuyu grass

presumably it is called that for the same reason we have wallaby grass and kangaroo grass - one hides wallabies and the other is big enough to hide kangaroos!
