What’s going on in your garden (2026)?

Today I picked 2 large scallions from my garden.

I finally got my Indonesian Wax Jambu Dark Dragron. It’s supposed to be the best variety right now with no seeds.
The person sold me, I saw her on youtube, she’s very nice person in person, but I didn’t see her face because she covered her face with mask.
I got the plant and she gave me back $20, but I refused to take it, so she gave me a cutting of atemoya Milky, a sought after variety that I don’t have, so I took and immediately went home and grafted to 3 trees to increase my odds.
It’s been a while since I graft anything, so it’s a bit of a practice for me. Glad I found some secateurs that were sharp enough to graft, somehow I lost my grafting knife, my husband moved things around before the rain and I couldn’t find my tools again.

I harvested some cilantros from my garden, they smell wonderful. I now know I miss out on the real cilantro flavor, only a few twigs though.

Some photos of my front yard, and the last one is my guava, to be picked any day now

Jealous. I have virtually nothing. But this is seasonal Kent. Its grey and not very cold. A few pansies show their faces in my window boxes. Salvia is always there, like a reassuring Aunt.

Interestingly enough, my daughter and a few of my neighbors like salvia plant the best. They pass by and take photos of thevplant while i was hiding in the back.
One year someone said to my husband she liked our lavender plants, my husband was really surprised, he said in a sea of roses, they told me they like the lavender plant.

I just had my first Gold Nugget from my front yard, I thought it wasn’t ripe yet, but it’s delicious. I now like this variety better than the Sumo I had from last year, maybe it has something to do with front yard, full sun.
That said today I did plant my Shinseiki Asian Pears, I hope to get more pears from this one.
I also potted a Snack Time Nectarine, this is supposed to be a very good variety from Andy’s orchard in the Bay Area.
I also moved my Tahitian lime or Bearss to a new location. This makes room to move my Gold Nugget to full sun.
I also moved Sihanouk atemoya to a bigger pot.

It's still raining (well, more drizzle than rain) but that's very unusual for January here. The grape, sun-kissed and yellow tomatoes are coming up, as well as some tiny chile peppers I acquired from the Amazon jungle. The tiny bird peppers are reproducing at an alarming rate and the Scotch bonnet is producing some really pretty hot peppers.

I did it. This afternoon I trimmed all the climbing roses, removed a couple roses, the area is now cleanish, not perfect, I still have to remove some old rose leaves, and that’s it for this area.
Some of my grapes are leafing out, I did trim there a bit. But getting ready to wrap grape leaves and something tasty.
