What's up with that peeler? Why is it shaped like that? Is it multi-function?

No, it's just a regular peeler but it's very handy to hold.

(Technically, it's multifunction since it has a potato eye peeler...) karadekoolaid leaves the eyes on so they can see where they're going. Ba-dump )

Another IOM bottom drawer purchase.

I like that the sieve and colander nestle within the other bowls. Especially as the budget for the IOM means the kitchen is likely to be the size of a postage stamp

Eye, eye!
Those peelers are far better than the long ones, imho. They, and the Y-shaped ones, fit perfectly into my hand and I can peel the veg without a risk of grating off half my knuckles.

This one feels much more solid and controllable.

After using the new one to peel carrots it has a downside... The peels flip off and land on your hand. That adds an extra step to shake them off. I'll try holding it differently but at this point its not a one stop tool.

I use a peeler like that and have never had that problem. Not sure how you are holding it... which hand is the peel landing on?

I don’t have that problem so I’m thinking it’s the angle you’re holding it at.
I tend to hold the peeler sideways and the peel just drops onto the board

I was peeling with the peeler parallel to the floor. Just tested sideways and it worked.

Yes. I just peeled a carrot. I hold the peeler at an angle over a board. And the carrot at the opposite angle in the other hand. Sometimes though I lay the carrot on the board and peel along it.

Potatoes are trickier.

I peel lots of potatoes, sometimes a dozen at a time for the Groomer Girls. I found out my microwave will only cook four at a time when I needed six.
