• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2026)?

Sis sent me this one for early bday.

They have these available at my store. I usually just use butter melted in the pan(s) in the oven, then pour in batter.

Just gotta say: that's an incredible discount on the 11.5 oz wagyu beef tallow.
From 14.99 to 14.89 :hyper:
I was thinking the same thing. LOL I may buy some Swift tallow some day.

New kitchen scales.
I suspected mine were playing up for a while and yesterday when weighing out the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies I was adding and adding and adding butter when I realised I’d put 3/4’s of a pat of butter on the scales and it only just tipped 120gram mark.
3/4’s pat of butter here is more like 190grams so that’s waaaay off (by about 2 1/2 ounces).
Pretty annoyed because those scales were £50 and only 3 years old!
Definitely no more expensive scales for me!

Hey ho. Look at these pimp my ride beauties. They’ll be here tomorrow hopefully 🤞

Nice wide plate, which I like for various reasons.

And a bonus item for me because I knew there was something wrong with those flippin scales, now in the future any doubts I can check.. before I ruin a batch of cookies 😂

Excellent, I’ll bear that one in mind when I have to start up a side gig selling drugs just so I can continue to keep up with the food inflation prices 😂
Actually, in Las Vegas my type of scale could be construed as paraphernalia, if it looked like a scale, so it's best to not have one that looks like a scale!
