What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2026)?

I've found one locally but it's more dedicated to steaming in the microwave so I'm thinking vegetables too. The power works out about the same but the microwave is faster.

I cook vegetables in the microwave all the time. I just use a bowl with a little water and a cover. The microwave is brilliant for vegetables: fast, economical and retains nutrients and colour. Rice and pasta takes much longer though, so not much advantage.

KA has one that senses the kind of rice that you are cooking, measures the water & everything else. $299. Sit right there, not interested!!! My apt is now clutter-free!! Sell it to someone else. My new small pot or rice cooker will do fine.

I found this silicone thing at Walmart for $8 and it's worth it regarding the time factor. I usually cook a mix of black, red, and brown rice and cook enough to last about a week but every now and again I want a specific variety. Using the microwave drastically reduces the heat up time. I tried some short grain sushi rice and it came out perfect. Four minutes at 70%, wait 5, then again 4 minutes at 70%.

I was looking to get a vegetable spaghetti spiraliser thing recently - didn't know which make or design - any suggestions preferences experiences ?

Thx - didn't know if the hand tuned versions worked ok
It works great! All I've ever done on it is zucchini but a carrot might be different. I don't use the spiky end thing until I can't use my hand to turn it anymore. It's well worth what I paid for what it does. 👍

Edit: It also doesn't have any moving parts so it's highly improbable that it will ever fail.
