What are you afraid of?

I do have a bit of vertigo, but only really tall ones. When I was in my 20s, I went to the Empire State in New York with no problem, much later in my 40s, I didn’t want to walk up the Eiffel tower.

Don't blame you. When I first got here (the US) I, naturally, went to New York City (big mistake for me) and while there people tried to convince me to go up the Statue of Liberty - didn't happen! :)

Heck, I was a US Civil War Living Historian and spent a lot of time on the battlefields in Gettysburg - I wouldn't even go up the look outs they had built around the battlefields ....

I think my fears of hieght are more about my lack of faith in human ability - it isn't the hieght that bothers me so much as the fact that some person designed and built that something I was walking up pr standing on and far FAR topo many man made structures have had a tendincy of falling down!

Well I make sure I don't go to places that are not up to standard, I won’t mention countries but I did see some bridges collapsed on TV recently. But my husband and I won’t go on helicopter rides either.
While I believe when your number is up, it’s up, because I’ve seen that happened many times in my life, so I’m not necessarily paranoid about things.

Spiders. I’m fine with snakes, wasps, sharks…but spiders are a big old nope for me. And the bigger the spider, the scarier it is. I am never visiting Australia for this specific reason.

I am also scared of having a horse bolt while I’m riding it, due to a number of negative experiences I’ve had with this in the past. I am currently working on moving past this, it’s holding me back in my riding quite a bit.

Well, I’m optimistic, maybe why I have not taken my SS yet, I wait until I’m 70. Maybe there’s longevity in my gene, who knows. I still have one living aunt in her 90s, the other aunt passed away at 94. So there’s hope on my side. My grandfather lived a healthy life until he was in his 90s and then died in his sleep, no prolonged illness. That’s how I want to go too.

My grandmother on my fathers side was in her 90's when she passed and my other grandmother 105 when she passed in hospital of pneumonia.

Loooks like I am in for a long life as well which doesn't bother me so long as I am lucid and not a PITA to anyone.
