What are you afraid of?

I can't argue that as I don't know. I do know that they are fairly common in built up areas so what you have been told could be true.

I am told from various reliable sources that the main reason I have not seen them is actually that they prefer air-conditioned houses. The cooling ducts are idea habitat for them and that is why they are much more common in the suburbs than living on a farm without AC and only a stove.
No wonder I haven't seen them.
No aircon here either.
That, and the fact that I live in a different continent :hyper:

People also forget that the UK has both a venomous snake and a venomous spider as well.
I don't think there is a country in the world that doesn't. This place has both and a few other things as well like allegators, bob cats, coyotes things that don't just kill you BUT EAT YOU as well so I really have to laugh when an american is scared of going to Australia because of it's wildlife :)

I forgot to mention bears as well :)

And yes, coyotes are predominately after chickens, cats, squirrels etc but they will also attack humans when in a pack (as they are here) like they do deer. It is rare, but has heppened more than once.

Funnily enough, I'm not affraid of any of the afore mentioned because, like Australian nasties, they tend to avoid people whenever they can. I don't bohter them, and they don't bother me :)

I think it depends on where you are, we’re very dense city, you don't see packs of them. I’ve yet to see a bear, but I read some LA areas have them.
My brother who lives north of us has mountain lions, he has about 1 acre lot, closer to the wild, that’s why one his dogs were eaten.

Our area is very dense, no house is on one acre.

We have a pack of coyotes that frequent the very small town I live in. We have seen them at night and one of our neighbors wife was "stalked" by them at one point. They come close to us and I have seen a couple in our yard at night but that is it. On th eother hand, during spring summer and autum you can hear them howl at night and THAT is erie, very erie. The joy of living in the bush (country)

Bears on the other hand don't really care - they go where the food is, even if that means a garbage can or bird feeder :) My eldest step son lives in Anchorage and they see reports of bears in town going through the garbage cans and industrial bins all the time. The people up there leave them be so they get what they want to eat and then wander of. Again, th epeople don't bother them and they don't bother the people so long as they (the people) don't get between them and their dinner :)

Aww don't worry, we can always ship you a couple :)
badjak Believe it or not but that is how most spiders and nasty little critters move from one country to the next - in ship board freight and containers. So while I might have been joking about shipping you some redbacks, there is a chance that you already have them ...

I'm glad we don't have bears
We got enough other animals to be careful off.
Back to afraid: a troop of baboons! Really scared of those things. I won't run away (obviously), but I do not like them at all
They don't attack people do they ?

I'm not sure if I am affraid of some animals or just cautious of them ....

They don't attack people do they ?
They steal your food when camping and get very agressive when you chase them.
And I have seen them take bags and backpacks from people, going through them and throwing everything out that they couldn't eat. Passports, wallets etc.
That same group of people had been laughing at my brother and I some 5 minutes earlier
Just because we choose a different path as we didn't want to walk past this troop of baboons!!!

Unfortunately, tourists think they are cute and feed them. Same as with vervet monkeys

I'm affraid that I would be one of those who thought they were "cute". I think iyt would be funny to see them take someones back pack and go through it for food and so forth - that is, until it happens to you. Have to be honest, I'd love a Chimp as a pet, I think they would be so much fun and so entertaining.
