What are you baking today (2025)?

Can't you just use a pastry bag with a large bore tip or a cookie gun with the long tube attachment.

Probably, if I had any of that. Used to have it but back to that U-Haul trailer wasn't large enough so in the trash it went. This is coming.

It's been years... and I was never any good at it. Partially due to an oven's thermostat I did not know was off.
But today I attempted a 5 min video on how to make mini baguettes.
We shall see...

What would be an easy way to keep these until needed? I don't have a bread box. Plastic bag? Paper bag? Roll them up in cheesecloth?

Freeze

After they've cooled to room temp. I put my bread in a brown paper bag and then that goes in a plastic bag. Mind I don't handle it w/out gloves on either. Back during Covid I bought bags just for bread.

Those look pretty good and would've worked well for my needs today. What hydration were they please?

Those look really good.

If you’re looking for long-term storage, then I’d wrap them a few times in plastic wrap, then in a layer of foil, and toss them in the freezer.

If you’re looking at just over the next couple of days, then in a paper bag on the countertop should be ok.

Are those like lunch sacks? No waxiness?

Thanks. I'm looking forward to breaking one open.

Hydration? Like in how much did I have to drink before they went in the oven? :o_o:

I followed this recipe with the exception that I used warm water. And I had to add more water. Probably because I measured and didn't weigh.

Thanks. I was wondering about that.
What about thawing? In the refrigerator? On the counter? Unwrap first so they don't condensate?

I imagine they'd last a week tops. I just won't buy club rolls anymore.
And when I do buy a normal length baguette, it usually lasts a week. But I end up breaking the stale part off. That's why I thought this small size might work better for me. Eat one at a time and no stale part.

Lunch sacks yes, no waxy. They have to breathe or they'll get moldy. Hydration is the percentage of water to flour. 👍

Oh yeah. These will never last a week :D
I have some brown lunch bags on the way.

A slight crackling when I tore it in half. The crust was soft enough it didn't scrape the roof of your mouth, but still had a very nice bite to it. It will be nice to see if I can replicate it. And I imagine losing the band aide on my index finger will help with all the folding and pinching and rolling.
