My lunch was a simple homemade wonton soup with some sides of kimchi and pickled garlic:

There are several differences, some major, as you found out between the different colors of lentils and how they behave. The French ones, Le Puy green lentil, are protected in the EU and that term can only be used on lentils grown in that region of France. Those also have a significant, just about double, the calories and protein as regular green lentils.

Met with dee-lightful niece-in-law at a place called NY Beer Project - I had a crispy buffalo chicken sandwich and fries, MrsT had some kind of chicken sandwich with pesto and Parmesan on it, and our host had some sort of upscale turkey club sandwich.

Regular fries for me, they both had sweet potato fries with a brown sugar-cream cheese-cinnamon dipping sauce.

I bet you paid????

SIL made a delicious Mississippi pot roast in the slow cooker, along with boiled baby potatoes and just-picked-today corn-on-the-cob.

Not yet! There'll be some respite today though as both my boys will be home and they won't eat any salad.

She actually could be quite content going fully vegetarian, but that isn't going to happen with me in the kitchen..
