What did you cook or eat today? (December 2025)

We went to organize my mom’s house, when we’re back, all the panettone was gone. So of course, after a long day, what is one to do with tea? My husband said what the heck, let’s open the Christmas cake, and it was very good and moist.

The carelessly slung together Gochugari chicken and earlier made some Togarashi devilled eggs.
Both pretty good. Especially the chicken, mushrooms and baby potatoes.

It was great to take advantage of Spains offering of cartons of precooked eggs, made the devilled eggs pretty simple to make.

I just peeled a half a dozen boiled eggs to make deviled eggs with! They actually peeled well, thankfully.

These were ok to peel once you finally found an in. They’re coated in shellac so they are boiled then coated and sit on the shelves with the normal uncooked eggs in the same cartons.
I learnt about that one the hard (boiled) way

Texas Kiolbassa ... so dang delicious!!!
With Home Fried Potatoes, Sweet White Onion, Green Cabbage and some "Jarlic" (fresh garlic here in cowboyville has been VERY expensive and horrible!) a boat load of Bacon Grease as the lube (I'm almost out!!!) and that was it --- SUPPER!

Should grow your own garlic, in a pot. It's very hardy.

I did try that, it didn't work out for me ...

Crack them all around and then submerge them in water for a few minutes, it makes all the difference for me.

have been doing it that way since 1982 but it doesn't always work. I actually submerge them in ice water and it usually works quite well, but with fresher eggs they don't peel as easily, I have found.

That's true, the stronger membrane can be a PITA.
