What did you cook or eat today? (December 2025)

One of the most spectacular marshmallows I ever saw. Cherry flavor by Maison Carrousel.

Scallop crudo with a mixed citrus, plus a bit of garlic and habanero dressing. Arugula salad with thinly sliced mushrooms and red onions, lightly dressed with EVOO and balsamic, garnished with Parmigiano Reggiano. Seared scallops over sweet potato puree with orange essence.

Sorry, no photo.

I got a phone call early (for me) from my Gal Pal that her mom (her mom is friends with my mom and they both live in the same Senior Living Community) had passed peacefully this morning.
AWWWWWW!! 🥺

She was off to make all of the necessary arrangements and I asked her if she wanted to end her day here to raise a glass in Miss Liz's honor... "oh yes, that would be nice."
I made up a nice Snack plate, knowing full well that she would not have eaten at all today and chilled a nice bottle of wine.
I also made a casserole for her supper.

Back in the day, when a friend's relative had passed, the old way is to take food over to the family's home (usually, there's a lot of folks gathered), convey your condolences and sit with them for a spell to let them talk about their loved one.
This was even better.
My Gal Pal's daughter had flown out here late last night and she brought her along to our house today.
It was good, I think, for my Pal to just be free to talk and say what ever, how ever she wanted to about the past few months.
It's not been an easy road for her and I know it. She also knows that she can come to our house any time and we're here for her.
I think I'll put together acoupla more dishes her her house and take them over there.
