What did you cook or eat today (February 2026)?

At our towns Mardi Gras festivities today. Got a shrimp po boy off a food truck. I have eaten po boys forever. Love them This one was the best I ever had. Good bread. Good batter. Fresh toppings. The remoulade sauce was the kicker. While I was waiting for my order a lady came by and told the food truck people it was the best she ever had. I thought that’s a good sign. After I ate mine I went back and told them the same thing.

Hard to beat a good po boy! Family is in NOLA for that and I'm hopin' for a real French baguette to be in my house next week. 🤞

Same batch of dough, with different oven tweaks.

Invitation to eat local bean sprout stew made only once a year marking the first symbolic harvest of the year. The beans (brown or yellow lima usually) are sprouted and grown below ground in ceremonial chambers for 14 days. The stew is a broth with salt pork pieces, chopped bean sprouts, pieces/slices of corn cut across the cob - somewhat similar to posole. Served with traditional piki 'bread', blue as well as red made with chile.Screenshot_20260214_232131_DuckDuckGo.jpg
