What did you cook or eat today (February 2026)?

I am absolutely whipped!
This has been a hard eight days since my mom fell and broke her hip, had surgery that same day, spent two nights in the hospital and then booted out to a Skilled Nursing facility.
PHEW!
Something easy-peasy again tonight:
leftover Italian Sausage with Marinara from our favorite joint, over Rigatoni and Walmart Italian Bread.

Prayers for your Mom. 🙏

I ate like a king today.
My catering friend, who is an extremely talented chef, invited me to her house for a "promotional" lunch. She was contacted to do food for a medical conference - 350 attendees - on cancer. Every year, the cancer foundation selects a different country and brings in experts for the conference. This year it's the UK, so everything is British.
Tea sandwiches (egg salad & cress, tuna, cucumber, radish and cream cheese); a cone of fish and chips, a mini beef wellington, a chicken tikka masala, gin and tonics, Pimms) and then the master stroke - the desserts.
The first was a sticky toffee pudding based on "Abbey Road". Divine, although maybe too many dates in the pudding.
The second was a Banoffee pie inspired by Coldplay "A sky full of stars".

I might add that the "stick" thing on the right is one of those luminous light thingys they use at parties these days. Break the stick, turn out the lights, and wave your stick. Instant stars-at-night effect.
She's planning to do that at the conference when they serve it, too. Dramatic? YES!
