Discovered a delightful Greek restaurant in town last night. We had a pile of Mezze (taramasalata, kalamari, roasted peppers with Feta, dolmades and prawn saganaki) and some kofte. Homemade pita bread - washed down with a glass of ouzo!

Last night's dinner was very white. Swedish meatballs (baked in the oven), and gravy over egg noodles, and steamed cauliflower.

Busy night in the kitchen chopping onions, prepping and storing the 5 chickens I bought today and making vegetable stock

Mojo marinated grilled chicken, cumin flatbread, and chayote/corn mix with a bit of oregano.

I finally had a "free day to myself"!
I cooked off a batch of homemade Char Siu that I made marinating in the ice box

Did a coupla "cheat" meals for lunch for us two.
I had other things I wanted to get done today.

DH had the canned Smoked Oysters (I'm allergic) and was in piggy heaven!
I went for another of the frozen meals that I bought for my Mother, meh, not so much, but it kinda sorta filled my empty tummy.

My first food of 2023. Pigs in Blankets using jalapeño-cheddar smoked sausages. Wrapped in puff pastry. A cajun honey mustard sauce for diping.

I had some chips and queso earlier, but that was soooo last year.

That sounds so weird that I’m going to have to try it.

Diced up some baby potatoes and deep fried them with peanut oil. Tossed in salt, pepper and garlic powder. Seasoning a T bone steak with the same seasonings and charcoal grilled it with a little hickory wood.

Meatless shepherd’s pie (repurposed yesterday’s lentil soup):

Now, for you purists, I have it on good authority that this particular shepherd did indeed develop quite the friendship with his fuzzy charges, and that’s why his particular pie was meatless, but still delicious.

I got in a mood for some Buffalo wings. BTW, my wing sauce is the Anchor Bar sauce -- 50/50 mix of butter and Frank's Red Hot.
