• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

What did you cook or eat today? (January 2026)

Hummus Tray to share while we play cards next door.

*I'm really not cooking much of anything, what with DH not even two weeks into his post-oral-surgery --- soft solid foods --- I'm keeping two different kinds of noodles/pasta at the ready in the ice box for him. When he gets hungry, which hasn't been often, I can simply re-heat and go.
For myself, I've been doing frozen meals for one, either made by me or Marie Callender

Late lunch and my husband had Prime Rib, the cheapest one I found but it’s very good and tender, the horse radish sauce is mild not as strong as the one my husband had in England

Lobster roll, not as good as the one I had in New England, so I ditched the roll

The finally, Hula pie, it’s worth with a view

I recall being excited when I purchased a fresh horseradish root at Smith's grocery in Las Vegas. OMG was it strong! 😱

Are they paying you?😅

Is that a stock concentrate for cooking or really for sipping/drinking?
Always make my own own stock (aka bone or other broth) so not familiar with sipping broth.
Did you read with your eyes?

Meaning? 🙂
Wondered if you were cooking with it?
Not familiar with the term sipping bone broth as I don't buy canned stock/broth. The only other name like that that springs to mind is sipping whiskey
Its a snack I think. A low calorie one and with no additives that I could see.

Not familiar with the term sipping bone broth
It’s a bit of a fad food the last few years. It’s meant for sipping, like a beverage. I suppose the marketers wanted to make sure folks weren’t out there slurping up plain ol’ regular everyday broth - never mind that standard chicken broth is <checks Kroger app> 12¢ an ounce and sipping broth is just under 30¢ an ounce.

I bought some for MrsT a couple of years ago when she was sick, and she poured it out after one sip, saying it was very strong and very salty. 🤷‍♂️
