What did you cook or eat today: July 2025

Had some leftover ingredients to use up...
a bit of onion, some halves of garlic cloves, a zucchini starting to turn, some celery starting to wilt & a bag of spinach that had maybe a day or two left before it turned into a mushy pile of chlorophyll....
Mixed up paprika, the last few spoons of yoghurt & the garlic to marinate some chicken then cooked it all up with a bit of wine & cream....

Took Mom to her bi-monthly "beautification" aka hair dresser appointment and then to the Dollar Store to go greeting card shopping.
This all worked up quite the appetite, so lunch at one of our favorite soup/sandwich/soup joints was called for... hadn't been here in a while.

One of their Summer Specials: Citrus Beet Salad with a bowl of Cream of Asparagus Soup, house-made bread and a glass of white wine, YUM-O!!!

Comfort food tonight. My mum's cheese pie, which is actually, not a pie. It's mashed potato with about ½lb of cheese in it, butter and cream, topped with tomatoes, and baked until browned. Served with carrots with raisins, cream and a touch of brandy.
