What did you cook or eat today: July 2025

Went to the grocery and BJ's, a Costco/Sam's club type place, then picked up a couple of pizzas from our favorite pizza place, a Margherita with garlic for me, and a meatball and sausage for Craig. Got caught in a torrential downpour at the grocery, then on and off downpours on the way to other places. At least it was just sprinkling when we got home. That's going to be our weather for the next few days.

I was going to stop at the place where I could get some lamb, but not in this weather. The regular grocery only had 1 pound of ground lamb and I needed 2, plus the regular grocery doesn't have speciality cuts now.
Loving the pizza description, sad that you couldn't get the lamb you wanted. But got until Thursday, right? So maybe early next week you can find what you want.

I made a pineapple strawberry compote for tomorrow's yeasted waffles (look Barriehie, I planned something, LOL). I had a container of frozen pineapple in the freezer and some fresh strawberries in the refrigerator. I am going to try to reduce as much stuff in the refrigerator/freezer before next week since I will probably pull the trigger on our new refrigerator this weekend. It might take a week before we can get it so I have to resist the impulse to buy more fresh food and just use what's in there now. The refrigerator is working fine, just a minor annoyance over the ice situation. Anyhoo, made DH some goat cheese mashed potatoes and lamb with eggs...there's just enough left for me to have a small portion with an egg on it for my breakfast (yeah, it's almost 2:30 pm here, so it's early for me to be eating breakfast).

I made a small salad of blackened (and then peeled) yellow pepper, tomato & onion (all from my garden).
I also picked yardlong beans and turned them into pat prik king using the last of my left over boerewors.
No left overs this time. I ate a double portion.
(No pics, phone was on charge)

If fridge comes early tomorrow maybe I can do some shopping. I want to make or buy some salads (Mac, potato, bean, tomato, fruit). Quick ready foods. Hopefully DD will be around to help a bit before her plans. I’ll probably be alone most of the next three days so want easy food. Arthritis and bursitis is acting up bad. I can always get some frozen dinners.

Frozen dinners... Now I want some Salisbury steak. I've got that bookmarked one JAS_OH1 posted awhile back so I'll take the meat out to defrost and make that tomorrow. 😋

Actually I am making the batter early evening because I have to run out for a bit. Since we don't eat breakfast until 3ish that will work out fine.

I am so sorry about the arthritis/bursitis, I hope that goes away quickly.

It's a good recipe!

When I make my yeasted waffles I mix it up the night before so the batter typically gets around 10 hours to "grow".

It stinks not being able to raise my arms more than maybe an inch higher than my chest without weakness and pain. But I just try to keep things lowered for my easy access.

I hope you get to feeling better. Can relate to not being able to reach things.
