What did you cook or eat today: July 2025

When I make my yeasted waffles I mix it up the night before so the batter typically gets around 10 hours to "grow".
Well I guess mine will be growing a lot since it will be more than 10 hours between the time I make the batter to the time I make the waffles.
 
That sounds so delightful.
Isn’t this dressing beautiful?

That’s maybe 1-1/4 cups of vinaigrette, and there are 5 tablespoons of fresh herbs in there.
 
Nothing fancy but creme fraiche is stupid pricey. No way I'm paying $128'ish/gallon...

I bought a pint of heavy cream, $5.49, and after warming it up stirred in a huge blob of yogurt and wrapped it in a towel overnight on the counter. You can kind of see where the spoon went in, nice and thick.

It's been an additional overnight since making this and wow is it thick! 😋 Kind of about like almost room temperature cream cheese.
