Congratulations!49 years today.
It's not too late. We have florists here that do same day delivery, I am sure you do as well? Plus you could get her a small plant, it's easier on the florist's side to prepare and deliver. I think they have little minature rose bushes. Or you could run out and buy something and have it for her when she gets home?
That looks like you've got it covered for a multitude of comfortable and tasty directions. I'm leaning towards less kitchen work as well with this heat.Too hot to cook at tonight. Tuna salad and boiled eggs made early while kitchen was still bearable.
Dinner will be catch as catch can. On hand: brie, Boursin garlic & herb spread, port wine cheese spread, tuna salad, tomato salad, hard boiled eggs (whole, on salad or egg salad can be made), salad greens, cherry tomatoes, fruit, and assorted bread.
You're not far from me here in Rome.Yep, the heatwave over here in the USA is fierce. It's currently 34C (about 93F) here in Alpharetta, and even I balk at doing anything outside, apart from, perhaps, a trip to the pool.
I'm already planning the Baptism party for my grandson on 13th July, so today, I'm going to make the samosa pastry, let it rest until tomorrow, and make the samosas to freeze. My DIL said "expect 35-40 guests" so I'm starting early.
It almost looks like popcorn kernels. Hmmmm...Precursor to something else but if I can't cook all this pounds of wheat berries wth???
These unmilled dried berries *don't* cook like the peeled wheat, pearled barley, or bulgur wheat that I've got. I anticipated a different method since they're not processed. Ended up pouring boiling water on them to soak overnight and added a few pinches of salt. Drained and rinsed them and then in the IP for a high pressure cook for 25 minutes. Came out well!
Edit:
1 part wheat : 2 parts water and a splash for good luck...

You guys should go grab a beer! TastyReuben and karadekoolaid met up one time when KK was spending time in the Cincinnati area. I know it's a bit of a drive from Rome to Atlanta, though. You're not far from me here in Rome.View attachment 130207
Yeah KK, even up here in NE Ohio, where the lake (Erie) tends to keep us a bit cooler, it's 95F out today and that's not with the heat index, that's the actual temp. And that lovely cooling lake also brings lots of humidity, LOL.Yep, the heatwave over here in the USA is fierce.
