What did you cook or eat today (March 2024)?

I harvested a yellow egg plant.
Cut and soaked in salt water as they are normally bitter.
Anyway, bit of bacon, garlic, ginger, eggplant and tomato.
Spiced up with fish sauce, red wine vinegar & oyster sauce
With mashed potatoes
One of those meals that was just unexpectedly tasty
I surprised myself

Some birds can and do build up a tolerance I'm sure, just like humans. Other birds, such as sea going birds have the ability to excrete excess salt, but the likelihood is that you'll never see a (non-sea) bird suffering from a salt overdose because they'll be dead. Plus larger birds can also eat proportionally more, so pigeons won't be as badly affected as a blackbird, which will fair better than a sparrow or blue tit (sorry for UK names but you're more likely to know them than Aussie birds such as a Weebill)

Well I learned something

I had a mystery shop job so we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Craig had chili that he actually liked for an appetizer, then ribs and fries, and I had half of their smallest ribeye and baked potato, plus a side Cesar salad.

Precooked sausages just now. Still In basket. Fries later and a few eggs.
Will heat back up in a few hrs.

Back to cooking now we've eaten our way through homemade meals from the deep freeze.

Courgette, Rosemary & Rice Cake with a tomato and basil sauce with carrots, kale, beans & peas.

The courgettes and beans are home-grown, and the soy yoghurt is homemade.

homemade veggie burger with chips and a large slice of avocado.
Then some friends turned up, so we cleaned out the fridge/cupboards: salted peanuts, two containers of tuna pate, some cocktail sized Wiener sausages cooked in beer and a packet of Tostitos, all accompanied by various remnants of chutney, hot sauce and piccalilli !!
Did I mention 3 bottles of wine??

Me too. I think I could eat the whole cake.

Bagels with my cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, and shallot mixture topped with sliced avocado and everything bagel seasoning. I had 1/4 bagel and hubby had 3/4 bagel (plus a little extra avo) cut into bite sized pieces.
