What did you cook or eat today (March 2026)

Had a pheasant that was sitting in the freezer for Sunday lunch/dinner. They were halved then browned-off before being casserole in cider with apples, with cream being added to the sauce at the end.

Your cauliflower sounds like me getting collard greens. They just keep going on and on...
Yep... that one was not actually the largest we've had either... I reckon about 12 normal portions from it, which given it was only A$5.50 wasn't too bad really.

But I do think I should probably have frozen some of it! 😆

I've started the practice now when I get greens I take 2 servings or so and flatten them out and wrap to freeze. It's like an envelope of veggies!

I have deep pheasant envy 😅

We used to have a plentiful supply of what my grandfather said were the biggest pheasants he had ever seen.

If we left a door open, we could guarantee that we would find at least one in the house. If you opened the door, they ran TOWARDS you, not away from you.... In fact, on one occasion, we managed to go away on the Friday night and came home late on Sunday night, to find the front door wide open. Our first thoughts were not what everyone else would be thinking - but were instead "oh crap, just how many pheasants will be in the house?"
