What did you cook or eat today (May 2025)?

Schmidt’s, the stalwart Columbus German restaurant, was in our area (sort of, if you count 40 minutes away “our area”) with their food truck, so that’s where we went:

I’ve yet to figure out why a storied German restaurant has a “Bahama Mama” for their signature sausage. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway, I had the knockwurst, wirh sauerkraut and onions added, and MrsT had the Fat Daddy, with the same added, and she got the platter, but with two servings of the potato salad, so we each had some of that.

She also got a cream puff.

No pics, because we literally stood in the parking lot scarfing our food down - well, she opened the back of The Gurken and sort of sat in there while maintaining that didn’t count as eating in the car.
I love that you drove 40mins to get lunch!

I know it’s a stereotype about Americans and driving distances, but around here, anything beyond a basic grocery store and chain fast food is a 35-45 minute drive, so we’re used to it.

In return, though, I can drive quite a long distance without encountering a single infernal stoplight, or 20 cars stacked up in front of me waiting to turn against traffic, that sort of thing.

Same in a lot of Australia.
I merrily ride an hour to somewhere I like to eat. It’s one of my favourite things. Find somewhere good and have a good ride there n back.
