What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

Thick-cut, double smoked bacon infused sourdough waffles.

Nothing edible there, mind you, so I wouldn't worry too much!
Oh they cleaned out the canned goods aisles pretty well, but not as depleted as the TP, tissues, hand sanitizer, and the like.

Okay back on topic. I had my tea and coffee but haven't eaten a thing just yet. I do think I will make copycat Chipotle chicken bowls tonight. I have my black beans soaking right now.

I had my tea (just) and then out; taxi service to the clinic, the gym, the supermarket... still haven't eaten anything, but I guess I'm going to stop by the Sushi place in about 30 minutes to pick up some lunch. At some stage, I've got to pick up sonny jim from the gym, where the local council has organised (or should I say, disorganised) an event, and told me to "pick him up in an hour or so".,

Don't know what it is that I'm making...
Fried chicken slices with onion, garlic & tandoori spice (home made).
Then added reduced tomato something and pickled eggplant (atjar terong) (both home made as well)
Maybe I call it "Chicken tikka masala meets atjar terong" ?
And some fish sauce added to confuse the whole lot :)
Not sure what's it gonna taste like... It's on the stove now

Oh my, sushi on an empty stomach would be an overordering experience for me. I do that when I am hungry. But I am also one of those who can eat leftover sushi without fear. Most people I know won't do that, but I haven't ever had any issues from it. The only time I went somewhere and got sick from sushi it also happened to the two other people who were with me, and none of us ever went back there again.

Let us know how it turned out!

If the cheese looks a little off, it was.
The deli person gave me a pound of sharp American rather than plain old yellow American.
I didn't notice the difference until I opened the bag and went to take out a couple slices. Too late then.
But it worked out.
