What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

I used to work at a deli. Sometimes when we would sauté something with onions, some onion “juice” would get on the butter. I loved that flavor of onion on a slice of toasted rye.
It’s funny, because that’s something I gripe about when I’m watching cooking shows, even Jacques Pepin - cutting an onion (and/or crushing garlic) and then sticking the onion knife right in the stick of butter.

It’s not that onion and butter aren’t fantastic together, but if I’m later buttering some bread for a PBJ or buttering a doughnut (don’t judge me), I don’t want that onion taste, that’s for sure.
