What did you cook or eat today (September 2025)?

Beef Short Ribs. They were supposed to be this past Sunday's dinner but we had drop-in visitors and by the time they left I didn't want to get into a 3 hour cook. And, last night didn't work, either. I cooked these at work today and brought them home to finish up here.

I did some soft-boiled eggs, but was dreading peeling them, and tried a new method that works eggcellent (🙃). After chilling in the ice bath, use the back of a spoon to crack them all over, and then submerge them back in the water for a few minutes, and then peel them under trickling water. It was substantially easier to peel them using this method.

Which one do you want? We made 16 different items
Let me see if I can get the menu up - might be hard because I'm technologically challenged...

An old friend used to make it . I have the yellow lentils but dont know her recipe. It was so good. I dont think it was the onions added at the end?? I await your reply.

Found the menu , but it's in Hindi and Spanish:hyper::laugh::laugh:
Easier for me to just type it out:
Starters were 3 chutneys (mango, tamarind, mint) and 1 hot pickle (garlic pickle) Naan bread, bhatura, and a papadum (no recipe for papadums), then pakoras, vadas and samosas. Pani puri/gol gappas, and raita.
Veggie options: chickpeas (chole), aubergines Hyderabad style, aloo ghobi, Blue mountain lentil stew with cabbage. Veg biryani.
Mains: butter chicken, Rogan josh ( with lamb), pork vindaloo and shrimp in coconut milk (meen pappas).
Desserts were gulab jamun and shrikand (sweetened yoghurt with cardamom and mixed fruit/ nuts, topped with pineapple.
