What did you cook or eat today (September 2025)?

I don't think I shared this with the group, but stop me if I did ...

Mrs. Next Door Neighbor has become abscessed with Pickled Red Onions for some reason and get any that she likes, other than at our favorite Fish Fry Friday joint.
SO...
I'm trying my hand at it. Never made these before, so we'll see what they're like.
I should have taken a photo of the next day, after letting everything marry together, it was gorgeous!
I sunk a taste, not bad.
The flavor profile that she's looking for is not to tart, not too sweet, but just right.

And very pretty they look.

Did a large vat of unattractive but tasty ragu, with pesky tinned cherry tomatoes that still had rogues ones with skin on them that had me fishing for a minute or two.
That’s about five litres so half for a spag bol and half for a lasagne.

And two (only one shown here) of vernplum ‘s Recipe - Dakdoritang (Korean Chicken Stew) not quite finished cooking and without the final fresh topping of chilli, spring onion, sesame oil and seeds.
That’s because I can’t serve it until Moss appears and tells me how to pronounce the blimmin thing! 😉 😂

Both look good to me. I can't conceive of cooking in such vast quantities though. Even when I had 5 adults living here I'm sure I never cooked that much!

What Jas said about big eaters 👍

They are extremely active peeps. The sorts who spring out bed at 6am and attack the day. They work hard in partly physical jobs, go to the gym and plays sports (they also go through two-three sets of clothes a day each due to various activities), they require a lot of calories. If I don’t make enough proper food they fill up on junk.
With a big dish they’ll have a largish portion at lunch time and usually put a small bowl by for later on. At least then I know it’s homemade and has plenty of veggies in it.

What I’ve made today (2kg of sandwich meat and the equivalent of four very large stews (approx 9kg of stew without the accompanying carb and extra veg) will last about four days.
Even with that OTT sounding diet my eldest who was quite overweight at the end of his last uni year has lost a significant amount of weight since.

Yeah I know it’s exhausting reading it isn’t it, it’s even harder living it when you’re not a morning person and are having to engage in army catering most of the week 😂

hmmm 🤔 olive salad ya say
I asked Professor Bing and she pointed me towards All Recipes dot com .... anyone have ideas?
