What made you smile recently (2025)?

I guess I'm already going into my Hawaii-Mode ... I was over at my Mother's Senior Living Community the other day to bring her a grocery haul, along with three, count them, three cases of bottled water (I don't trust that city's water) and dang, that's gonna be heavy ... I saw a moving company was going in and out of one of the side doors, but I couldn't tell which one.
I called out to one of the movers kids, "HUI! Ei Nei!" which roughly translates from Hawaiian to English as, Hey you there, but in a kind manner...
You'll hear that in Hawaii ALOT! Sorta like a greeting, "Hui, ei nei, e komo mai" hello you, come inside ...
The kid turned around and asked me "what auntie?"
THAT made me smile from ear to ear ... "are you going inside from that door on this side? could you let me in?"
He did!

That’s so Nigerian. Love that.

Ngerians do that too? I had no idea. My sister lived in Nigeria for about 4 years but never mentioned anything about that...
Yeah! It’s how you refer to your elders. My next door neighbour is Nigerian (Yoruba) and we have a large Nigerian community.
We do it quite a bit in England, too.
