Yeah! It’s how you refer to your elders. My next door neighbour is Nigerian (Yoruba) and we have a large Nigerian community.
We do it quite a bit in England, too.

Very common in South Africa.
Either auntie (for the English speakers) or Tannie (for the Afrikasns speakers)

I recall a ramp we made with 2, note 2 boards, propped up on a log. Hit it going full speed, between the boards, and the boards promptly spread apart and the bicycle hit the log, massive, in a perfect t-bone... End over end in the air coming to a rest in the holly bushes.

For those that don't know they are very thorny shrubs...
