What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

There's a little history with this one.

There's a regional food called Staffordshire (or Derbyshire) oatcakes. I've grown up eating staffs oatcakes all my life. They're made in Stoke-on-Trent...

So when I spotted Stoke oatcake chocolate just had to try it. It's chocolate made with oats for the milk component.

I've not tried it yet. Being gluten free, my mother is wanting to participate as well.

I bought puff pastry, butter, sausage meat, split peas, artichokes, courgettes (zucchini), cucumber, sage, thyme, oregano, white cheese, frozen peas and a bar of Lindt chocolate.
Tomorrow I'm making samosas, sausage rolls and vadas - all to be frozen for the 12th July (grandson's baptism).
He's not getting any chocolate - that's for me :D

I've never cooked with this before so thought I better get around to trying some!

Before purchasing this small bag of MSG I did do a little research on the matter and what I learnt was quite a tale and I've written about it in my personal blog here (if you're interested): Is MSG Really As Bad As They Say

I use MSG often. It's in my all-purpose house seasoning blend that I make up.

It's a standard on my spice wheel and I get the 464g bag. Like msmofet it goes in just about everything that isn't sweet.
