What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

There's a little history with this one.

There's a regional food called Staffordshire (or Derbyshire) oatcakes. I've grown up eating staffs oatcakes all my life. They're made in Stoke-on-Trent...
Recipe - Traditional Staffordshire Oatcakes

So when I spotted Stoke oatcake chocolate just had to try it. It's chocolate made with oats for the milk component.

I've not tried it yet. Being gluten free, my mother is wanting to participate as well.

I bought puff pastry, butter, sausage meat, split peas, artichokes, courgettes (zucchini), cucumber, sage, thyme, oregano, white cheese, frozen peas and a bar of Lindt chocolate.
Tomorrow I'm making samosas, sausage rolls and vadas - all to be frozen for the 12th July (grandson's baptism).
He's not getting any chocolate - that's for me :D

Planning for the baptism in 2 weeks time, so I actually made a list and bought everything. Tea (that's going back to Venezuela with me) - 5 kgs. Tamarind concentrate, vinegar, sugar, dates and Thai chiles, for making tamarind chutney.Beetroot, ginger, chiles, sugar - for making beetroot chutney. Coriander leaves for the samosas. IPA for lubrication while making 80 samosas from scratch.

Then there's the real Indian stuff, from Patel's. gol gappa, or pani puri (they're the pastry spheres on the left) which will be filled with a chickpea curry, yoghurt and tamarind chutney, then a green liquid made with coriander and mint leaves. Kasuri methi (fenugreek leaves) and Kashmiri chile powder for the butter chicken. Black salt (namak) for the tamarind chutney, papadums and basmati rice.

The big city affords so many opportunities for gathering food.

That’s for a corn salad I’m making for MrsT’s cookout coming up…although that’s a week away, now that I think about it.

The first local tomatoes.

Orange stuff for another cookout recipe.

Love those cotton candy grapes.

Butter was on sale and those raspberries were $2.99.

I really dislike going to the supermarket with my wife. It costs me a fortune.
We went this afternoon to buy mushrooms, ham and tomatoes.
Came back with the above, plus 1 dozen eggs, 3 cans tuna, a mixed salad, a tin of anchovies, a jar of instant coffee, 3 avocados, a bottle of prosecco, a 6 pack of local beer and 2 bars of chocolate.

Same here, but it’ll be Cap’n Crunch cereal, Oreos, peanut butter M&M’s and the like.

Then, once we get home, she’ll say, “I can’t eat any of that stuff, too many WW points,” so after a week, I’ll eat exactly one Oreo a day until they’re gone (I don’t even like regular Oreos), and one bowl of Cap’n Crunch until it’s gone, and 11 peanut butter M&M’s until they’re gone…and then six months after she bought all that stuff, she say, “Hey! Where the hell are my Oreos I just bought?! Did you eat them?!”
