What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

I didn't buy it, but liked at it and thought "what?"

The Fioretto Cauli Blossom: An Explainer
Nicola Dusi is head chef and co-owner of the Hardware Club, a 65-seat Italian trattoria housed in the heritage-listed Hardware House in Melbourne’s CBD. He says Fioretto is to cauliflower what Broccolini is to broccoli. “The flavour tends to be a lot milder.”

Fioretto, which means “little flower” in Italian, is a non-GMO hybrid brassica developed in Japan. It quickly took off in Japan, where it’s known as karifurore, its elongated stems, delicate florets and pleasant flavour appealing to Japanese chefs.

Car seems fine so some more shopping this morning.
Couple of whole frozen chickens as I am a cheapskate. They are less than half the price of drumsticks or whatever part. And rhe dogs eat, whatever I can't or won't.
Plain full fat yoghurt, potatoes and onions
Mosi lager (2 crates of returnable bottles), red wine as it was on special.
Still not found any Jasmine rice. No red wine vinnegar either

Liver paté, salami, air dried ham from the butcher

Whole cabbage, lots of tomatoes, garlic and baby marrows from the farm shop

Think that about covers it

The best way to test the strength of a hot pepper is to cut it in the middle, halfway between the stalk (the hottest part) and the tail (least hot part). Then you just slice a tiny sliver and put it in your mouth. You can chew it if you like (I do), but you'll know within 20 seconds how hot it is. If it's too hot for you, spit it out and eat some yoghurt, or drink a bit of milk.

Did that and they're not as hot as I was left to think. Quite tasty! 😋

Maybe the dried powder I've been getting in the jar is more concentrated. Either way I'll be growing more of these plants next year. 👏

I mostly bought dairy--2 bottles of coffee creamers, half-n-half, heavy cream, and of course peanut butter and bread to make sandwiches for the ground hog and squirrels.

I remember in the past once posting I bought stuff to make ground hog sandwiches and realized that someone who didn't know I had a "pet" groundhog might think I was eating ground hog. LOL. :)

That was not an impulse buy or anything, that was a planned purchase, eh?
That was all impulse, except the coffee, and I didn’t have to stop for that. I was on my way home from a morning doc’s appointment, and I didn’t want to get right back to work, so I thought, “Where can I stop that’s on the way and kill some time?” - so I stopped at this Amish-ish shop that’s not too far away, because MrsT likes their coffee, and I figured I could pick that up and then fart around in there for 15-20 minutes.

That was me and yes, sounded like you're eating ground hogs.
