What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2026)?

I like "this pan"better. Those little burned bits are just great.
When I moved back here from 'Vegas in '21 I lost all my CI. That's the first replacement. At this point, combined cost from the last one, "this pan" is the most expensive piece of cookware I've got and imparts the most character to whatever I'm cooking, luv it!!! 😃

Aldi, I need to get my arse out and about earlier so I can get to Aldi before it's busy...

I scored some local garlic. And yes, the cloves are as big as they look. I don't mind not having entire heads of garlic; this is cheaper, and the cloves are bigger overall. Each box has 50 cloves of garlic and weighs around 300g, which was AU$13.50 (about US$9.60 or GBP7.10). Over here homegrown (as in Australian) produce is typically much more expensive than imported goods from China, but our personal preference is to support the local economy and also this really is the local economy because they are literally down the road from my doctor's surgery (well 20km away but in Aus that is down the road - my doctors is 55km each way).

Awesome! That would be what I need for a year, planting and eating for the next year. 👍

That's lovely looking garlic, and very similar to what I prefer.
Over here it's called "imported" garlic, and while the flavour is not quite as intense as the locally grown, the cloves are bigger and far easier to peel.
Typically, a head of "imported" will have about a dozen or so cloves, whereas the local version might have 30-35.
