Italian Pinot Noir with the Wild Boar last night
Very nice. Hugely underappreciated.I've been in the garden today "pottering". Time for a "sundowner" - White Port & Tonic![]()
Very nice, again.Italian Pinot Noir with the Wild Boar last night
It's from Northern Italy - Veneto. Due to its light-to-medium-body and fresh elegant flavours of cherry & raspberry and reasonable price, it's growing in popularity here in the UK.Very nice, again.
You have good taste, sir.
Which region of Italy was it from?
Thanks, will have to keep watch. It's from Northern Italy - Veneto. Due to its light-to-medium-body and fresh elegant flavours of cherry & raspberry and reasonable price, it's growing in popularity here in the UK.
I like pinot noir in general, but difficult to find in this country. It's mainly pinotageAnd a few pinot noirs too:

2019 Closson Chase Churchside Pinot Noir 12%, PEC, ON. - very, very good; (PEC = Prince Edward County, a lakeside region a few hours east of Niagara which is making a name for its chardonnay and pinot)
2022 Le Clos Jordanne Jordan Village Pinot Noir 13.5%, Niagara, ON. - a little too bold and brash for my taste but still good wine
2020 Hidden Bench Felseck Vineyard Pinot Noir 13.5%, Niagara, ON. - excellent; superb with chicken and creamy mushroom sauce yet enough weight to handle a simple steak
How do North American Rieslings compare to their European counterparts?A few (mainly) rieslings enjoyed last month:
Canadian ones, especially from good producers in Ontario, are mostly very good, some are quite superb. Am not familiar with US ones, although the Finger Lakes region of New York has a good reputation. If you like decent riesling from Alsace, Germany or Austria you would not be disappointed with any of the ones shown above. How do North American Rieslings compare to their European counterparts?
