Yeay! In fact it sharpens scissors too which is why there are two different shaped sharpening bits. It is quite effective and safe to use but I'm not sure its very kind to knives.

I have a an old tymey pocket sized 2 sided stone and a Lansky system, but I'm not very good with either one.

I recently used a weird little handheld knife sharpener that I found in a junk drawer in the kitchen, and while it didn't do a great job, it was a pleasure for a while to use our regular knives with unaccustomed ease.
