Which food or dish in your travel that you are afraid to try?

I always make a conscious choice to give Madrid a very wide berth, even though it adds an extra day to the itinerary I’ll do that extra days riding so I can get far enough away from it 😂

I’m trying to think of something I wouldn’t eat again. Probably Fugu. I was in my early twenties and clueless and up a mountain in Canada where there was a posh Japanese restaurant, didn’t know what I was ordering, don’t remember much about how it tasted and certainly wouldn’t eat it again. That’s a dish I am afraid of.

Yep, that's the pufferfish thing...

I'm not afraid to eat anything, wait, no pufferfish or any of that possibly toxic stuff if the chef screws up slicing it...
Yep. The pufferfish thing. As the OP is which food or dish you'd be afraid to eat, that would be it for me 😶 The rest are mainly the ick factor or ethics 😅
How can you eat live brains? I mean the animal must be rendered unconscious or it would be pretty horrific experience.
So was the chauffeur eating anaesthetic as a byproduct?
We eat oysters tho ...

I don’t unless they’re cooked 😂
Bit of a difference between an extremely strong animal and a mollusc.
I can’t think I’ve ever heard of a bivalve ripping someone’s face off 😬 😂

Pufferfish I wouldn't risk.

Oysters don't have brains. Once you shuck an oyster it is dead in any case I believe.

Edit. Technically its alive for a few minutes after shucking.
I just bake them, they very tasty. Same with lobsters, I throw them in a hot pot and walk away. My husband is too chicken to stand around.

We seem to have a wide range of foods people wouldn't want to eat or would be afraid to eat!

One more general thing to mention might be hygiene and health and safety laws which are different across various countries.
Plus some religious beliefs. Bottom feeders are shunned on in some circles. I know when I mentioned cat fish, people at the senior center said they are bottom feeder so I now stop eating it. It’s not like I eat a lot of catfish before, I only bought one catfish because my sister likes eating it.

Catfish are good! No scales, few bones, it's all protein at the end of the day. Used to catch them a lot in Cross Lake in Shreveport, LA. 👍
