I have a brother who doesn’t like a lot of herbs either, not sure if it’s genetics, but he doesn’t like fish, bean sprouts, very picky eater.
My oldest brother likes fish (he lives in Florida) and likes all the other herbs but cilantro...says it tastes like soap. His wife and I have tried to trick him into eating it but he can tell.

Same here. My youngest son hates it. All the others love it. Including their parents. Genetics can skip several generations I suppose.
I am guessing there would be no way to have known this 100+ years ago with the great-grandparents because I am doubting they were eating any cilantro.

You've given me an impossible choice.
Basil, parsley, thyme (occasionally)and oregano for Italian dishes.
Coriander leaf, mint and dill for Indian dishes.
Parsley and mint for middle eastern dishes.
Rosemary and thyme for Spanish dishes.
Coriander, rosemary, thyme, parsley and oregano for Venezuelan dishes.

Recessive genes are very entertaining. They can sit in that lucky dip bag for generations and generations before saying HI, we’re here!
My youngest son is a prime example. I know for certain he is the product my and Mr SSOAP’s genetics but he looks like none of us on either side, from us back to great grandparents. So thats over a dozen people I know directly what they look like and he doesn’t look like a single one of us!
People will actually say “Where did he come from?” 😂

True. Cilantro/coriander has only really been available in the UK since the 90's.

Indeed!

Back to herbs please...

I'd add "generally available" there. I worked in Croydon in the 70s, and the receptionist (who was from Mauritius) where I worked once made us a salad with coriander, probably from a specialist Indian grocer.
I won't mention the green chiles :D :D

Yes. Probably available in the London area from specialist markets/shops.

I've a sister who is 5'11 and has blue eyes. I am 5'2" (well I used to be) with green eyes. My brother who doesn't like cilantro is 5'9" with black hair (well it was when he was young) and has 2 different colored eyes, 1 bluish-gray and 1 green. Genetics are weird.

Sorry MG.

Herterochromia.
As an ex ophthalmic practitioner I can honestly say I find it utterly beguiling.

But back to the herb topic at hand before said hand is given the ruler 😉

I’d like rosemary to win.
Mostly because I think it adds so much and is so easy to (not) care for even I can grow it 😂

I do because that’s what the restaurants usually serve you, it’s a habit, I figure they have been cooking and eating this stuff long enough.
I'm used to the street tacos served in Las Vegas, or used to, by the peddlers pushing around carts. They used to come through the neighborhood and would always be in the Cardenas Market parking lot on Meadows Lane.
