Who will eat almost anything?

According to giggle, it's mushrooms.
Utterly weird for a Frenchman not to like mushrooms, n'est ce pas?
That’s not right at all. He loves mushrooms and he uses them all the time. It seems like half his recipes have mushrooms in them.

No, this was a particular dish he was offered in China.

Found it (not the same interview, though):

The dish was raw chicken embryo - he says,

All the people in front of me were Chinese. They were breaking the egg, getting the embryo, dunking it in coarse salt, and swallowing it. I broke mine, took it out, dunked it in coarse salt, brought it to my nose, and I put it back. I couldn’t swallow that one.

That’s from “The Art of the Chicken,” (though I found it online at The Tasting Table) and explains why I had a memory of it, but difficulty finding it online - I have that book and read it the old-fashioned way…off the page!

I will eat almost anything. The only thing I don't care for is pineapple cooked with other foods. On its own, I enjoy it. I find that the sweetness is to dominating when cooked with something else.

I used to not like mushrooms. About 15 years ago I decided to train myself to like them. Now they are one of my favorite foods.

I am also willing to try almost anything. The only new thing I have tried in the last decade that I didn't enjoy was beef tartar. I had it a resort. I couldn't get past the texture of it.

I don't like meat, have never eaten a steak in my life, (texture thing: meat in my mouth makes me want to throw), but...
I'll eat minced or shredded meat. Love a burger, really enjoyed cochinito pibil in Mexico, had a friend cook me a fabulous Chinese dish with aubergines and minced pork, am perfectly happy eating a hot dog and would die (right now) for a couple of British bangers for breakfast.
I'll eat fish and seafood, however. First time I tried oysters, I think my wife & I downed about 12 dozen.
I've also eaten Mexican grasshoppers and Amazonian lemon ants.
There's not a single vegetable, fruit, nut, cheese, herb, legume, spice, etc I won't eat. Love them all.

Pig liver will never, ever pass through my lips again, even if I'm starving because I think it would come right back out. Craig made traditional boudin once. Nearly all of it got tossed once he finally admitted to not liking it much.

I've had calf liver and would eat it if I absolutely had to, but not something I'd make or order ever again. Certainly wouldn't try beef liver given the calf liver taste.

No problem with poultry liver. Love fried chicken liver, dirty rice with liver, and pate.

Never going to eat alligator again either. Craig made gumbo with it long ago when we had a gumbo challenge. I took 1 bite and had something else for dinner that night.

Snails have to be made correctly. It's a toss up when ordering out. So, I've found a frozen brand from France I like, which is ready to go in oven with no prep, so I get a package of that when I get a craving.

We rarely order seafood out because most places overcook it.

I will not eat insects knowingly. Just can't get through the ick factor. Snakes are also in this category, as are frog legs.

Yep. Any kind. They just won't stay down. And it's not an allergy - it's the taste of them.
I grew up on gulf coast oysters (Gulf of Mexico--not Gulf of America!) and they were pretty awesome, very clean, slightly briny from the clean gulf waters, and delicious. But a few years ago we were in South Carolina and I had oysters from the mouth of the James River in Virginia, and I sure am glad I ordered them steamed because I had to put a ton of garlic butter and parmesan cheese on them to get them down. I can't believe people were eating them raw! I would never eat those again. And they weren't cheap, either.

Probably not. I know that rascal dislikes tripe and parsley sauce. TastyReuben doesn't love mushrooms or sweet potatoes (but I think he will eat them) and he detests most seafood except fish n chips. SandwichShortOfAPicnic dislikes peas in particular. I think SatNavSaysStraightOn would eat a lot of different foods if she could without going into anaphylactic shock. Morning Glory dislikes mayonnaise. kaneohegirlinaz doesn't care for tomatoes (at least raw ones, not sure about tomato sauce and ketchup).

Windigo doesn't mention not liking foods, only that there are some she can't eat due to dietary restrictions, like SatNavSaysStraightOn and SandwichShortOfAPicnic.

Maybe badjak is a bit more adventerous than most of us but just doesn't have access to as many different kinds of food as the rest of us due to geography? I have never read anything to my knowledge of foods she doesn't care for, but I may have missed something. And I don't recall Barriehie discussing things he doesn't like to eat, but again, I may just not remember correctly. Come to think of it, msmofet doesn't talk about what she doesn't like either to my recollection.

I know for awhile you were sick of pizza after a visit to the US where you ate too much of it and that you don't much like beef.

You know us all pretty well.

I will try and prolly eat anything except tripe. I get a dry retch thinking I it.
I've eaten croc kangaroo hoo hoo grubs ( big Caterpillar tastes like peanut butter)
Liver and pretty much anything put in front of me.

But is the parsley sauce a trigger? I mean, wouldn't it make you think of tripe? Your poor ma was just trying to feed you boys on a budget...

Maybe the texture of tripe. I used to leave the parsley sauce aside. The parsley sauce was really bland.
The kommandant grows parsley here. I use a lot of it in my croquettes and sausage rolls. Weird eh ??

No, I don't think so. My mom always made liver and onions and I hated that, but I still like onions just fine. So no, not weird.
